Let me share some details on myself.
I have been working since 2000. It has been almost 18 years in the workforce. I am a simple person with simple needs. I strongly believe that there is no need for one to have a million to retire. As long as one keep his/her need to the minimum, a portfolio of less than a million is required for his/her simple lifestyle. Retirement to me is not like quitting the full-time employment and not doing anything. Retirement to me is doing things which I prefer and not under the tight timeline set by the corporate overlord.
In order to reach the status of one work because he/she want to and not “have to”, one still has to work for the corporate overlords for an average of 10 years provided the individual maintain a modest lifestyle. Time is required to build the cash supply. The cash supply will be channelled to the investment portfolio which will generate recurring dividends for the individuals regardless of what he/she is doing. The investment portfolio will generate dividend on a constant basis.
I strongly believe that there is no need for the dividends to cove the expense of the individual fully. The individual can choose to do the things he/she like and I believe that there will be some sort of income to complement with the generated dividends from the investment portfolio.
