Peers Comparison

In pursuit for FI or any other things, people tend to benchmark with other people in terms of time taken, age etc to achieve the target. I used to have such mentality and ended up feeling disappointed when I was trailing behind the peers who seemed to be far ahead of me in term of their progress. Over the years, I start to realise that it is pointless to compare with other people. There are bound to have people who will be better than me. One thing to take note is that there will also to have people who will be worse off than all. The best appropriate approach is not to benchmark at all. There is no point to compare with others as I am of view that the passive income is the most appropriate for me. I focus on the passive income which will be able to cover 100% of my expenses. If the passive income does not cover 100% of my expenses, the shortfall can be covered by the work which is of interest to me. I know that adopting the dividend growth investment approach is the best way to generation of dividend on a continuous basis for a lifetime.
