FIRE at 40 years old

By the time in which I quit the full-time employment sometimes in early May 2019, I am still at the age of 40. I have not reached the 41th Birthday this year as my birthday is sometimes after May 2019.

I believe that some of you may have read the articles which mention on whether it is considered an early retirement at the age of 40. I am of view that the age is just a number. The most important thing is whether one still has the energy to enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in the FIRE status. It will be an horrible feeling if one is unable to have the energy when he/she call it a day on the full-time employment.

I also read news in which a person is disgnosed with a terminal in the late 30s. This has reinforced my desire to quit the full-time employment when I am still healthy at the point of time. This is no point in having the retirement stash when one is going to leave the world. As mentioned before, money is not everything and one should use the money as a tool to aid his/her journey to FIRE.

My two cents worth of view.
