Own Identity

People has been in full time employment mainly for the main reason – livelihood. It is not strange for one to feel that the work is part of his/her identity. When one leaves the full-time employment due to own decision or other circumstances, one might feel that he/she has lost the direction of life. This is understanding to some aspects. One will have been in the full-time employment for at least 40 years of his/her life. When he/she retires from the full-time employment, it is natural that he/she will have such loss of direction. I have heard instances in which some people pass away shortly after the full-time employment. There are comments on this circumstance cited due to the loss of the direction. People start to feel ill and never recover from such illness. I believe that the longer one stay in the full-time employment, the likely in which one will have the shorter life span after retirement. However, there will be exceptions. However, I am not going to wait until the age of 60 plus for retirement. Furthermore, the place in which I reside currently, has government’s call for the people to work until 80 to 90. This is akin to working till death. I will not want to be in such circumstance. I decide when I can quit from the full-time employment. As usual, it is to each of our own. Different people have the perception of their own view.
