Happiness

There is a word called inner peace. Inner peace refers to the solitary calming of the mind as per my perspective. One will be much happier if he/she stay within his/her own head instead of reaching for an expensive idea of what he/she thinks that others will find impressive. This is akin to keeping up with the Jones.

There are a lot of societal pressures which one faces. One struggles with money because she/she spend it in the hopes of impressing his/her peers. My take is that buying things to impress people at the end of day which one does not like, is a bad idea.

The roots of the problem are illusion of success and insecurity. One wants to be viewed as successful.  This leads one to struggle with his/her personal goals and constantly spending more that he/she could afford. This borderline reckless spending habit put him/her in the vulnerable position of not saving enough and eventually the promised land of reaching FIRE.

There is a solution to the above circumstances. It to stay in the cocoon of one’s mind and that is when one starts getting much happier. Forgoing expensive items like homes and cars are the essential way of getting into debts. There is no need for one to flaunt his/her success. Low profile is the way of FIRE journey.
