Perils Of More Desires

People tend to want more in life. The more one wants, the more unhappier one will be. The more one strives, the less satisfied one will feel.

Wanting positive experience is a negative experience.  Accepting negative experience is a positive experience. The more one pursue feeling better all the time, the less satisfied one becomes. Pursuing something only reinforces that fact that one lacks it in the first place. The more one desperately want to be rich, the more poor ad unworthy one feel, regardless of how much money one actually makes.

The above quotes emphasises the need to be content with the existing circumstance. I believe that this is true. Contentment is the way of removing the unhappiness in life. My take is that one feels blissful as long as he/she does not have to worry about the expenses in life. I am content with my current situation with the assurance that the generated dividends from the investment portfolio cover my expenses. I can proceed with embarking on my interests without any worries. It makes me willing to take “risk” in the pursuit of my interests. I do not think much details on this type of risks. I start with no worry about the expenses. What worst can come to you? The worst case scenario is back to full-time employment in which all the investment portfolio becomes 0 (which is very unlikely). On hindsight, I still have time for alternative actions when I sense this is coming to materialise into a reality. At the current stage, I have about 23 years of not having the need to go back to full-time employment. In addition, the generated dividend from the investment portfolio is not at all blast (2.34% yield at the current juncture). I have the option of increasing the yield and have not chosen to do so at the prevailing moment as I do not see the urgent need of executing such strategy. I still have the option of reducing the expense further if I need to do so. This will reduce the pressure of the investment portfolio on generating the required dividend to cover the existing expenses. This is not taking into consideration of the income from the side hustles (if executed). The options are aplenty. I am happy with the existing circumstance.
