I have previously mentioned the topic of “Enough” in one or few of my previous posts on this blog. I come across an example which illustrate the power of having “enough”.
The “enough” derives from one having the mindset of being content with the possession which he/she has at the present circumstance. I believe that this is the way of having the simple and minimalist lifestyle in which one will not hanker for more riches and desires in the course of the life. I love the leisurely and quiet environment in which I have the luxury of time to enjoy the very moments of the surroundings in a specific place in the country of the residence. Such place might not be valid in many years given that the potential of land development decided by the Authority. The place might get packed and noisy with the impact of development enforced by the Authority.
It is easy for most people to have the sense that such change in the environment is natural and good for the economy for the most countries. It is much more easier to think that having more money or stuff or status will make one happier.
I quote myself as an example. I used to have such thought in my younger days. Now I no longer have such desire and opine that it is much more better and conducive to have a simple and minimalist lifestyle. I do have such icky craving for more stuffs at times in the prevailing circumstances and believe that this is the human’s nature. I will remind myself that that is food in the refrigerator, clothes in the wardrobe, a simple room to live in and sufficient fund in the investment portfolio which will generate the dividends (cover my expenses and excess re-channelled back to the investment portfolio) on a continuous basis. Life is good for me. I am content.
